Iskra Contributes to Improved Railway Safety at Depala vas Level Crossing

With the installation of new automatic railway barriers in Depala vas, Iskra is contributing to improved traffic safety and the continued modernisation of Slovenia’s railway infrastructure. The official opening took place on 21 October 2026, with Martin Letonje, Director of Iskra, in attendance.

An important step towards greater traffic safety

On Wednesday, 21 October 2026, the new railway level-crossing barriers in Depala vas were officially opened. The upgrade represents an important step towards improving safety on the Ljubljana–Domžale–Kamnik railway line.

Iskra contributed to the project as the contractor, applying its engineering expertise to the implementation of a modern solution for protecting the railway level crossing.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Municipality of Domžale, SŽ – Infrastruktura, Iskra and the local community. Martin Letonje, Director of Iskra, represented the company at the event.

Reliable technology for safer level crossings

The project included the installation of automatic railway barriers and the associated cable, electrical and electronic connections. Testing of the complete system was also an important part of the implementation, ensuring that the system operates correctly.

Modern railway signalling and safety systems are essential for the safe and reliable operation of railway infrastructure. They support the safe movement of trains and contribute to better protection for all road and railway users at level crossings.

The project reflects cooperation between the Municipality of Domžale, SŽ – Infrastruktura and the contractors involved. Such collaboration is essential for delivering infrastructure projects that meet the needs of local communities and contribute to safer transport.
