Iskra Shipyard with the contract of 37m long Coastal Patrol Vessel

ISKRA Shipyard has been selected as the winning bidder in an international public tender for the construction of a €17.5 million Coastal Patrol Vessel (CPV) for the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia. Selected among strong international competition, this project confirms ISKRA Shipyard’s growing role in delivering complex, high-standard vessels for public institutions and maritime security. The vessel is designed by Metal Shark Boats Croatia, a long-standing partner with whom we have already successfully delivered SAR and emergency medical vessels. Vessel specifications: Length overall (LOA): 37.4 m Hull length: 33.63 m Width overall: 9.72 m Hull width: 8.9 m Draught: 2.05 m Propulsion: 2 × CAT 3516C, 2,525 kW @ 2,300 rpm Generators: 2 × CAT C4.4, 86 kW Anchor winches: MUIR VRC8000 Max speed: 30 knots Range: 1,200 NM at 25 knots Autonomy: up to 5 days at sea Aluminum hull with selected steel elements Designed for border protection, maritime surveillance, search and rescue operations, and deployment within the FRONTEX framework, the vessel will significantly strengthen Croatia’s maritime security capabilities. Preparation for construction begins immediately, with delivery scheduled within 28 months. First two SAR15 vessels successfully delivered to Pula and Split

Commissioned by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia, these 15-meter vessels are part of a wider national fleet renewal program aimed at strengthening maritime safety and emergency response capabilities along the Croatian coast. Successful testing of the first of seven new rescue vessels

Iskra Shipyard Šibenik has successfully completed testing of the first of seven aluminum vessels commissioned by the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure. These vessels are designed for maritime search and rescue operations and are part of the government's initiative to modernize the fleet of the Port Authorities. Each vessel measures 15 meters in length, can reach speeds up to 40 knots, and has an operational range of 430 nautical miles. The total value of the contract is €13.6 million, awarded to Iskra Shipyard Šibenik as the most favorable bidder in a public procurement process. This project builds upon Iskra's previous experience in constructing high-speed medical emergency boats, further establishing the shipyard's reputation in producing specialized aluminum vessels for various maritime needs.

Slovenian-Croatian consortium led by Iskra to build Dubrovnik's wastewater treatment system

The Slovenian-Croatian consortium led by Iskra, which includes the Slovenian company Hidroinženiring, Dubrovnik-based firm Alfaplan, and Split’s Elmap, has been selected as the contractor for a key segment of the "Development of Water and Wastewater Infrastructure in Dubrovnik" project. The consortium will construct the Lapad wastewater treatment facility, including an underwater discharge system. The project involves building a secondary treatment wastewater facility with three main technological units: mechanical treatment, biological treatment, and sludge processing. The contractors will construct a new facility equipped with advanced systems, including coarse and fine grates, an aerated grit chamber, grease traps, and a membrane bioreactor. Additionally, a sludge treatment facility, a hydraulic tunnel approximately 350 meters long, and an 835-meter-long underwater discharge system will be installed. "This is a vital step for Dubrovnik, a city that has long deserved a comprehensive water and wastewater infrastructure to significantly enhance environmental protection and manage wastewater effectively," said Lukša Matušić, Director of Vodovod Dubrovnik. "Congratulations to the Slovenian companies selected for this project. We look forward to successful collaboration." "We are pleased that the synergy between Iskra, Hidroinženiring, and our Croatian partners—Dubrovnik’s Alfaplan and Split’s Elmap, in which we acquired a majority stake earlier this year—was recognized through this tender," said Mr. Dušan Šešok. "The selection process was lengthy and thorough, but we met all high standards necessary for the construction of the treatment plant and sludge facility. Our partnership with Vodovod Dubrovnik represents a critical step forward, and we are excited that the new treatment plant will soon become an integral part of life for the people of Dubrovnik and their guests. Iskra has major ambitions in the water treatment sector, and this strategic project in Dubrovnik is essential for showcasing our group's commitment to timely and technically advanced project delivery." In February this year, Iskra, a provider of electrical and systems solutions based in Ljubljana, acquired a majority stake in Elmap from Split. Elmap is one of the leading companies in the region, specializing in automation solutions for wastewater and drinking water treatment plants, water supply systems, electric power, and infrastructure across various industries, from metallurgy and shipbuilding to pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, renewable energy, and the oil industry. The Dubrovnik wastewater treatment plant is designed to serve the long-term needs of the population and economy. Its planned capacity of 73,000 population equivalents (PE) considers future development and growth in tourism through to 2050. Dubrovnik’s Mayor, Mato Franković, noted that "Today marks a historic milestone in the realization of the Dubrovnik Agglomeration project." The project includes 40,256 meters of pipeline construction, reconstruction, and repair, enhancing water quality access for 78,716 consumers. The wastewater system expansion will cover 30,798 meters, adding 4,409 new users and increasing Dubrovnik’s wastewater coverage to 92 percent. Additionally, the initiative will feature the construction of the Ombla Drinking Water Treatment Plant and the Lapad Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Our business journey with SIQ dates back to the institute's establishment, with Iskra being one of its founding partners oldest collaborators. The first measurements conducted by SIQ employees - who were then part of Iskra's R&D department - were carried out on Iskra's products. Over all these years of collaboration, SIQ has issued more than 300 test reports and certifications, as well as several hundred calibration certificates, for our products. We are proud to announce that Iskra has become the majority owner of Elmap, a company located in Split - Croatia, which is one of the leading companies in the region specialized in the automation of wastewater and drinking water treatment, as well as, water supply systems, electroenergetics, and infrastructure systems across various industries. This is third significant investment for the Iskra Group in Croatia, following the acquisition of Šibenik Shipyard (now Iskra Shipyard) in 2019, and the acquisition of cable manufacturer ELKA in Zagreb in 2021. As expected, both companies are operating positively and achieving excellent results. Iskra director and majority owner Dušan Šešok mentions that “Iskra continues to invest in research and development of new products to implement new technologies and innovative solutions. We had an incredible business event Iskra Power Day in Slovenia, which brought together our partners from around the globe. DAY 1 #IskraPowerDay On the first day, we had the pleasure of enjoying the stunning beauty of Lake Bled with our partners as we took a boat ride to the island and the magical castle. Later in the evening, we gathered for dinner to share stories and experiences, all while taking in the magnificent lakeside view. DAY 2 #IskraPowerDay Unveiling the latest innovations related to sustainability, EV, and transition to Renewable Energy at Brdo Congress Centre – followed by dynamic presentations from the Iskra board, industry experts, and engineers, with time for networking and product demonstrations. Our agenda was carefully curated to explore various industry topics, offering participants a unique opportunity to engage in the sessions. We also took the opportunity to present the latest developments at Iskra, sharing news, showcasing ongoing activities, and highlighting our strategic steps for the future. High-ranking representatives of the Slovenian and German economies will discuss green transformation, energy security, sustainability and business location challenges at the Slovenian-German Economy Day event. At the event, the winner of the German Economy 2022 Award will be announced, which is traditionally awarded by the German-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce (AHK Slowenien) in cooperation with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Slovenia and IEDC- Bled School of Management. Fingers crossed for good news at the event on April 18th when the winner will be announced.

SAR1 by Iskra Shipyard, the first in a series of boats for emergency medical intervention at sea, was officially handed over to the Croatian Ministry of Health. The SAR1 (Search and Rescue boat) first underwent rigorous testing to ensure it was structurally flawless and could withstand even the harshest sea conditions. A set of complex tests includes the boat's resistance to a free fall from a height of two meters, the resistance of the boat's hull to the impact of the bow on a solid shore at a speed of 4 knots, and a test of the boat's independent return to its initial position after turning sideways by 180 degrees. While testing the boat's resistance to a 180-degree side roll, the Self-Righting test, Iskra Shipyard Director Dr. Aleš Ekar personally entered the boat's cabin. This demonstrated his trust in the expertise and ability of the designers and shipbuilders who built the SAR1 at our shipyard in Šibenik, Croatia. Watch the full video at the LINK. The main goal of the programme is to strengthen the capacity for the excellence of Western Slovenian and Adriatic Croatian innovation ecosystems through a set of jointly designed and implemented actions that will support the digital and green transitions of the maritime and related industries. The project will implement three Research & Innovation pilot projects that address some of the key challenges related to maritime education and training, security & safety in marine traffic, and energy conversion and management systems’ efficiency. Iskra has officially become a member of the S.A.F.E. e.V. [Software Alliance for E-mobility]. Based on the requirements of the Rule Finding Committee (Regelermittlungsausschuss, REA) and consumer protection, operators of electric vehicle charging facilities are required to implement the requirements of German calibration law. This is regulated by the Eichrecht standard, which Iskra smart energy meter WM3M4C for EV chargers fully meets. Eichrecht's goal is to protect electricity consumers, including those who charge their EVs at charging stations. In order to meet the standard requirements, charging stations must have a certified energy meter that correctly calibrates the kWh energy used and physically displays this value to consumers. The aim of the Association is to make transparency software available to all companies active in the field of E-mobility in order to create a uniform and long-term standard, thus promoting consumer protection. We look forward to being part of the EV community and the Association responsible for the promotion of research and consumer protection in the field of electric mobility.

Iskra Smart Energy Meters fully compliant with the Eichrecht German calibration law! We are pleased to announce that Iskra Smart Energy Meters (WM3M4C) are now fully compliant with the German Eichrecht standard. After receiving The Module B certification in 2021, Iskra has now successfully completed the assessment according to Annex 4 of Module D of the Measures and Verification Ordinance dated 17.7.2019. Prestigious Eichrecht conformity means that the use of WM3M4C is assured by a reliable, trustworthy transaction, in accordance with the requirements set by German law. This standard guarantees transparent measurement and billing for energy delivered from charging stations to EVs, so the biggest benefit for consumers is full visibility of the amount of energy they pay for. Information collected during a charging session must be very detailed and transparent to the user, which means that smart meters have to meet quite a few requirements, which we have achieved. Compliance with the highest energy metering standards, as well as transparency and data security for EVs, have been successfully ensured by this renowned certificate.
